Some people get into debt by buying things they don’t need and can’t afford. What are the reasons for this behaviour? What action can be taken to prevent people from having this problem? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

Nowadays we are living in a society based on consuming. As a result, some people have problems in dealing with this budget and they get into debt by buying things they do not need and cannot afford.

This kind of behavior is encountered quite often in our present days, mainly because of the possibility of buying goods in leasing. Hence, people buy most of the goods using using credit card without having a clear idea on how much money they possess or they owe.

Also, another cause for this behavior could be psychological. The advertisement and the subliminal messages one encounters in a regular day in a big city has an enormous impact on one’s brain. The main problem is the lack of awareness of the serious effects that advertisement can have on people.

In order to prevent people from adopting this dangerous behavior, measures should be taken so as to raise awareness among people. Also, one must learn how to manage his budget in order to get a balance between necessities and pleasure. Keeping a record on income and monthly spendings would be very helpful and would give to the consumer an overall image on how his budget should be spent.

All summed up, the chances of becoming a victim of the consumer’s society are high nowadays due to the surrounding temptations but this problem could be easily avoid by being aware of this  dangers and having a rational attitude when dealing with money.

Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things that we really do not need. Others say that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

The purpose of advertising is to tell the consumer about any new product or service or any new promotion on the existing product and service. We need it so we can make good decisions when we go shopping. Advertising tells us when new and improved products become available and lets us know which ones have the best price.

Through advertising we learn about new products. For example, many grocery stores now sell pre-packaged lunches. These are very convenient for busy parents. They can give these lunches to their children to take to school. Busy parents don’t have time to look at every item on the store shelf, so without advertising they might not know about such a convenient new product.

Even products we are familiar with may be improved, and advertising lets us know about this. Most people use cell phones, but new types of cell phone service become available all the time. There are different plans that give you more hours to talk on the phone, you can send text messages and photos, and next week probably some even newer type of service will be available. By watching advertisements on TV it is easy to find out about new improvements to all kinds of products.

Advertisements keep us informed about prices. Prices change all the time, but everyone can look at the ads in the newspaper and see what the latest prices are. Advertisements also inform us about sales. In fact, some people buy the newspaper only in order to check the prices and plan their weekly shopping.

Advertisements improve our lives by keeping us informed about the latest products developments and the best prices. Advertisements serve a useful purpose.

The society would benefit from a ban on all forms of advertising because it serves no useful purpose, and can even be damaging. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

It has been argued that a complete restriction on all forms of advertising would be of great value for society as a whole, due to its apparent lack of usefulness and sometimes harmfulness. In my opinion, this assumption is highly subjective, and therefore I completely disagree with it.

To begin with, to claim that commercials have no use and are detrimental to consumers is completely ill-founded. We are living in a world where new products with distinct and revolutionary features to better our lives and solve everyday problems are being released almost every day. We cannot deny the fact that such products would remain relatively unknown unless advertising was used to reach customers on a large scale. As a result of advertising, many businesses will thrive, and in turn, pay taxes to the government which will help contribute towards a variety of governmental systems, such as education, healthcare and social security. Such systems help to ensure the well-being of all citizens.

From another perspective, dependency on the advertising industry is inevitable for any nation to prosper. Once commercials, by law, undergo a prohibitive order, unemployment rates would increase and the burden would fall on the state. For example, Coca Cola dispenses thousands of employment opportunities in advertising throughout its branches across different regions around the world. If adverts are forbidden, an unthinkable number of workers, such as marketers, would either be driven to other jobs or become unemployed. The government, as a result, have to provide temporary financial support for those people. In other words, banning all forms of advertising would have many undesirable implications on society.

In conclusion, it is unreasonable to presume that advertisements are irrelevant and need to be prohibited for the sake of societies best interests.

Consumers are faced with increasing numbers of advertisements from competing companies. To what extent do you think consumers are influenced by advertisements? What measures can be taken to protect them? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

These days, due to a highly competitive commercial market, people are exposed to an ever increasing amount of advertising. I believe that people are highly susceptible to modern day advertising and marketing techniques, and that certain actions need to be taken to ensure the wellbeing of consumers.

Advertising has become a multibillion dollar industry, and much research has gone into its development and effectiveness in order to help businesses sell more products and services. And although advertising can provide many benefits to the consumer, it can also have quite a negative impact on individuals and society as a whole. One of the negative effects advertising can have is that it can lead people to buy things that they don’t actually need or even necessarily want. Advertising techniques can make us feel as though we really need to have something and this can cause people to make impulsive purchases, which they may not have made if they had made a more thorough decision.

Furthermore, in societies where advertising laws are more relaxed, people are faced with large amounts of advertising containing many subliminal messages and explicit content. For instance, it is well known in the advertising industry that sex sells. Creating sexual themes within advertisements can influence people’s thoughts about not only the product but ideas associated around it. This can have many negative influences on the minds of people, and in particular children, potentially forming certain negative beliefs and ideas about such topics.

In conclusion, for these, and many other reasons, I believe that Governments and other organisations need to monitor how companies are promoting their products and services in order to protect innocent consumers. This can be achieved through the regulation of the content of advertisements and the regulation of the space where advertisements occur, such as billboards and posters. Individual companies also must take responsibility regarding their advertisements to ensure that they do not contain subliminal or explicit material that might negatively affect consumers.

Advertising has become part of everyone’s life. Some people say that advertising has a positive impact on our lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

Nowadays, people are confronted with advertisements of all kinds on a daily basis. Some people believe this has both positive and negative impacts on our lives, and personally, I completely agree with such viewpoint.

People in the modern world come into contact with advertisements almost everywhere, from online commercials, to banners displayed on crowded streets. Frequent exposure to advertisments of the same, or similar types of products, helps consumers make a clear comparison of certain aspects of the product, such as function or price, before deciding which items are suitable for their needs. For instance, thanks to the commercials of Iphone X and Samsung Galaxy S10, people wishing to purchase a smartphone can easily weigh up the pros and cons of these two products, and then choose the right one that serves their demand.

However, widespread advertising can also have some negative consequences that are worthy of consideration. First, the information delivered in advertisements is not always accurate, as many companies exaggerate the features of their products in order to draw attention from the public. As a result, consumers are likely to receive products of much lower quality than advertised. Second, the heavy cost of producing a range of advertisments can raise the market price of many products, meaning that people will have to pay more money to buy an item that they want.

In conclusion, the fact that advertisements of all types surround people can influence their lives in both positive and negative ways, and companies should consider giving the accurate information, and reduce their budgets for advertising to mitigate the drawbacks mentioned above.
