Recent IELTS Essay Questions

Dear Test Takers,

It is crucial to practice writing IELTS essays using authentic questions irrespective of your target score. I always ask my students to practice the questions given in Cambridge IELTS 1-15 books. However, I have noticed that the students often practice the questions that appeared in recent IELTS exams. Since the test takers are not allowed to take the exam paper with them, you must be wondering how do students get access to the recent essay questions and what is the authenticity of these questions.

Indeed, the recent IELTS essay questions are not 100% authentic. Test takers across the world report the essay question that they answered in their IELTS exam on various social media platforms like blogs, Facebook groups, etc. Most students can’t remember the exact wording unless they have a photogenic memory. Therefore, the recent IELTS exam questions are not perfect and, in many cases, can be different from the original question. So, is it worth practicing them?

In my opinion, you must go through the recent IELTS essay questions as it will give you an idea of what types of questions have been asked recently in IELTS tests. And it is not a bad idea to answer a few to gain confidence and reassurance. However, you should still mainly focus on the authentic practice questions from Cambridge IELTS 1-15. To build the following list of recent IELTS essay questions, I interviewed my students who recently took the IELTS test and scored at least 7 bands in the writing test. This list is updated monthly, so please visit this page back to seek regular updates.

All the best,
Sriyash
